Mechanical core aeration is the use of a machine with hollow tines to extract plugs (cores) from lawns.  As we enjoy and maintain our lawns, compaction occurs from walking and the use of other equipment, such as lawn mowers.  Coring is the preferred method of circulating air into soil beneath lawns and is one of the most important practices in lawn care.  Core aeration is typically done once or twice a year, depending on the level of traffic your lawn receives.

• Improves water and air infiltration
• Stimulates root growth, which helps build drought tolerance
• Prevents exceesive thatch buildup, which helps prevent insect and disease problems
