Preventing and correcting the damage done by soil erosion is our job! There are few areas more critical for erosion protection than stream banks and channels. When the slopes along waterways are disturbed, flowing water from the next rain storm can send dirt downhill and into the water, setting off a domino effect of problems that can spell disaster for wildlife and water quality. In addition, debris and pollutants from nearby parking lots, streets, and other surface can wash into the stream. Ironically, our success at moving water quickly from streets, roads, parking lots, and other paved areas is a big part of the problem. Unfortunately, streams have been the negative recipient, with contamination and thermal landing of water from hot blacktop. As development of land has increased, so has the problem. The impervious surfaces of these developments leads to increasing amounts of water going into a watershed that was not designed for that volume, causing the water that used to go into the soil to go into a drainage ditch. We are very familiar with solutions to all aspects of erosion control and can design and install erosion and storm water controls to help you control the water runoff on your property. |
