Green roofs, also known as rooftop gardens, are building roofs that are partially or completely covered with vegetation and soil.  The purpose of a green roof is to filter rain water and control polluted water runoff.  These rooftop gardens also play a role in controlling air temperatures in and around the building, can increase the life expectancy of a roof, and can control noise levels.
